Yeah... Do you have any idea how to help someone with depression? My friend has no way of getting to counseling or getting medication even though she really needs it. So, some of the school staff and I are trying to help her. She's lost all motivation and doesn't care about anything (she is trying to drop out), and on top of that she's telling me about pro-ana and pro-mia (I had to google it at first. Turns out it is supporting anorexia and bulimia; some of the stuff I found was really pretty sickening, but saddening too). She hasn't been eating much and some other friends and I have mentioned this to a guidance counselor before. We've also addressed the issue of her being suicidal, but refusing to be hospitalized again. I am sure it would do her some good, but her mother, unfortunately, is extremely ignorant and would get very mad at her, as she does not want a "crazy" child.

She's never had a good life at home. Luckily, she will be living with her father after this summer. I think that will help her a lot, but I need some way to help her until then. Her girlfriend is very kind and supportive, but she is suicidal herself and I know from experience that one suicidal person should not be relying on another (which is why I have decided to step in with adult help).

Our goal is to help her find something she enjoys. She's lost interest in everything and she's been very quiet (which is unusual. She was always very excitable and outgoing before this). The americorps teacher is trying to get her into art and writing again, but she would like my help too because they know that she trusts me the most. To be honest, I'm at a total loss. We used to draw things together and have very excited conversations about history, astronomy, and evolution, but now we don't.

I believe that religion, of any kind, can help a person through depression. I've tried to convince her to do anything, and she said she might be interested in becoming wiccan. I thought that was pretty cool, and I could probably teach her about it because I used to practice it. But a few days later she told me that she can't believe in any form of god.

Like, I'm just not sure how to handle this. I've always been a very protective and caring person, and I'm basically the "parent friend," so it makes me pretty upset when I can't help my friends. I know this is probably not something I can do much about, but still.

Anyway, sorry for making this so long (and probably unorganized). I'm not really sure where to go at this point -and message boards and stuff scare me- and I've seen you giving advice to people before, so I was just hoping you could give me some kind of guidance here.
